CHOOSING A BRACELET SIZE BY MEASURING YOUR WRIST
If you are looking to buy a bracelet, the single most important thing to consider is your wrist size and the size of the bracelet.
It is very important that your bracelet sits well on your wrist because otherwise, it will be both uncomfortable and look awkward. Just like it is important to have clothes in the right size, it is important to have bracelets that sit well.
One-size bracelets are great since they are essentially only one size since they use flexible strings that adapt to the size of the wrist (or adjusted by a string etc). But it’s not always that you want to wear these bracelets. Sometimes, you just want a nice, well-fitting leather bracelet or bangle.
So with that said, how do you measure your wrist for a perfect fit?
How to Measure Your Wrist
The best and most effective way is to use a soft tape measure. Wrap the tape measure around the wrist you plan to wear your bracelet on. This will allow you to measure the circumference of the wrist. The length you get is your actual wrist size, not your bracelet size.
This is extremely important to note when buying bracelets:
Some bracelet makers and brands make a bracelet that has an X cm circumference when that is specified. At the same time, when other makers state X cm as the size, then it is made slightly larger so it can actually fit a wrist of that size. This is why it is extremely important to read carefully what the sizing refers to. Is it the circumference of the bracelet or the actual wrist size it will fit.
At Wbracelet, we will make a regular fit bracelet to fit your wrist size specified. You can leave a message according to whether you prefer a loose, exact, or tight fit. If you specify that you have an 18cm wrist, then we will ensure it fits an 18 cm wrist.
Why it’s important to use a flat tape measure or small string or strip of paper?
With bracelets, the actual length is not what is a concern. It’s actually the inner circumference when latched shut. That’s because the beads themselves take up space on the inside circumference. That makes the inside measurement smaller than the length when laid out flat. What is needed to actually wear a bracelet is for the inner measurements to match the outer circumference of your wrist. That’s why it is important to use a tape measure, strip of paper, or small string — it’s not bulky, so the inner circumference is virtually the same as the length when laid flat.
Try a different bracelet
If you are shopping online, a tip is to try someone else’s bracelet and see if it fits you. This is especially a good idea if you plan to buy bracelets from the same brand as your friend.
